Tool #4 to create ‪‎Super Genes‬: Stress Management

Let's face it. We can't escape stress. However, this does not mean that we should shrug our shoulders, feel helpless and just live with chronic stress. Many of us even fail to recognize its presence because it's been part and parcel of our lives for years.

The constant drip, drip of stress hormones (adrenaline and cortisol) over years eventually causes organ and tissue damage throughout the body. Studies show that stress can change gene activity promoting illness that can be passed onto offspring.

Here are some simple tips from Dr. Chopra and Dr. Tanzi to help you manage daily stressors:

Enjoy nature everyday Avoid multi-tasking Decrease background noise/distractions at work Meditate daily (more on this soon) Stop unloading your stress on family and friends Be in contact with people who are meaningful to you Take up a hobby Find a physical outlet to unwind Stop bringing work home. Leave the office at the office. Stop taking on too much responsibility

Instead, Be a Healer of Stress by: Not being a perfectionist who can never be satisfied Asking others how they feel and listening to the answer Not insisting to get your way Being respectful, never belittling or scapegoating Praising and appreciating others Waiting until you are calm before addressing a situation that makes you angry Being open to new ideas, no matter who they come from
